The textile print is from Jocelyn Proust, an Australian Designer who has an established reputation for creating striking abstract prints in a clean graphic style.  I liked the simplicity, colour, and scale of the print.  I wanted to break up the pattern with a block of solid colour to create clear visual boundaries.  I used cream jersey fabric for the sleeve.  When mixing fabrics always have one, or two unifying elements to blend well.   I have used a jersey fabric for this design because it is uncomplicated, easy-care, great for travel, and has the feel of luxurious silk.  I have used a stabiliser in the shoulder seam to avoid stretch in that area. 
 
I designed and made each garment using traditional sewing techniques.
